Holistic Health for 30 years
Skin:
Throughout childhood and my teens, I had itchy, weepy, chronically broken skin that felt like it was on fire. My eyelids and lips were cracked, bleeding, and gooey. Yuck. I was a hot mess. Life just hurt. I wish I had a photo to show you, but I avoided all cameras… for years.
At fifteen, the steroid creams stopped working. After the side effects of the steroid pills were explained, I decided I didn’t want to take them, and my doctor told me I was on my own as he had nothing else to offer.
I started experimenting with different plants, teas, lotions, supplements, and diet changes. You name it, I tried it.
And it worked.
I can help you figure out what is going wrong in your body (yes, the whole thing) and your emotions (yes, they are connected) to see what triggers your flare ups. See the About page for details.
Scars:
At the same time, age 15, I had major surgery, leaving me with painful scars and reduced mobility. Scars are easier than skin as far as treatment, and because of that, I wrote a book on scars, called Love Your Scar.
In it, I offer many suggestions, including self-massage and stretching exercises. Most people can find relief on their own, but if your scar is in a hard to reach place or its impacting other parts of your body, find a massage therapist, lymphatic specialist, or physical therapist to work alongside you.
“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
- Khalil Gibran
